I live in Silver Spring, MD (Montgomery County). Our cable television, landline phone and cable Internet have been acting up since around noon today (April 19, 2013). The Internet is slow, the landline has no dialtone and the cable tv signal has been inconsistent (fine for about eight to ten seconds, then what looks like a picture and audio breakup for a second or two before coming back - repeatedly). Per one my neighbors:
the tv's are cutting out/freezing every 8 seconds for a second, the phones have no dialtone, and I'm pinging other sites on the Internet and the signal is timing out every 8 seconds or returning a 1700 to 2000ms delay every 8 seconds (normal range should be a solid 30ms give or take every ping)
I've checked with our neighbors with RCN - they all are having the same issues. From those who have already called, it will be sometime next week before RCN can have anyone come out here. It looks like the whole neighborhood is effected. The problems started before the thunderstorms moved in today, so I really don't see those as being the cause.
