We were an rcn customer 9 years ago. I think we could switch back under new customer rates, Not Sure.. Main question is about modem signal levels.. Our docsis 1.1 modem back then ran from 0 to-7 on the downstream power and +46 upstream power. I'm not sure this would work in the docsis 3 era today with multi channel bonding. Distance from tap to ground block was a 200 foot direct run because my house is L shaped and office is all the way at the back of the house.
Can somebody comment if modern service would lose sync nowadays. Rcn can give me internet standalone for 40 bucks, Fios is charging 72 for internet, but the fiber is immune to signal problems because they brought it (fiber run) back here to me, and use only a little bit of coax. Would be grateful for opinions?? Maybe I should just continue to pay fios?? Not sure. Rcn worked fine in old days not sure about now with docsis 3.
Thanks
