So I've been trying to figure out what's going on with my gigabit speeds and it seems to be an issue with anything that peers with Telia
Anything that goes through Telia (which most of RCN traffic seems to) is extremely slow
For example, downloading a game from the windows store, it would bounce between two CDNs (RCN -> telia -> XO -> akamai or RCN -> telia -> quantil) and depending on the CDN speeds would be between 20mbit and 200mbit.
However, doing a speedtest to starry.net (RCN -> twdx -> starry) speeds would be maxed out at 1gbps; same goes for most speedtests that don't touch telia
It seems that telia is very oversold and doesn't have the capacity to handle RCN's traffic. How do we get RCN to fix this issue?
Again, locally or anything that doesn't peer through telia seems to fly; no problems hitting 1gbps.
I am tempted to just switch to comcast and stop dealing with this nonsense but I am trying to support the little guy - anyone know how to get RCN's network engineers to investigate the issue?
Selling 1gpbs speeds to RCN's network but nowhere else on the internet is fairly dishonest.
