Do I need a Coax Attenuator Pad?

I have an RCN cable internet service. Some time ago, I've had problems with upstream power going very high and the modem disconnecting. A tech did a bunch of things on the pole, replaced the line from the pole to the house, and also removed a 10db pad (I did not see which specific kind of pad). Now my signal levels seem a bit too hot. See below. Should I get an attenuator pad? If so, which kind? 3gb? 6gb? FAM-6? FAM-6HR? FAMP-6? FAMP-6HR?
