My family has been RCN/Astound customers for like 30 years. I've just moved apartments and we cancelled my girlfriend's account and I signed up for a new one in my name because they were trying to charge us an $80 move fee and claiming that a self-install was not an option. So, I picked up the modem this morning and just plugged it all in and it's stuck on a blinking light. After waiting for over half an hour for a tech support call, the tech first claims that my account hasn't been "activated" even though it was, according to her, supposed to have been activated days ago when I placed the order. Fine, no worries. She activated the account and I power cycled the modem. At this point, she tells me that the modem that I've just picked up today has been deleted from their system and that I either need to pick up another modem from the service center or they need to roll a truck. Not a good start to this new relationship.
