[TiVo] 2nd Preview won't configure and no one wants to own issue

So almost a week ago now I had a second TiVo Preview installed in my place. We already have a Q/4 and a Preview, and wanted to add another one (since I couldn't get a retail Mini to work; and actually had TiVo tell me that an Ethernet switch is an unsupported network configuration; my question, how do you have an ethernet network without a switch?). We are getting broadcast TV, but it certainly isn't acting like the Preview we already had, and we can't really pair with the main Premier Q. All 3 units (plus my TiVo Stream) are listed on my TiVo account and have the same MAK (the new preview took 3 days until it activated). The new Preview will only let you see shows on the SDUI once you go into My Shows and select the Premier Q. It doesn't just partner immediately like our old Preview. Also, cannot schedule recordings and when you try to "Pair" with the Premier you get error V70. Research on the TiVo support site brings up articles that address Multi-Room viewing that were written at least 3 years ago before the Q or the Premier existed. RCN support was useless, having me go round and round in circles taking 10-15 minutes per try to first connect to the TiVo service on the Premier and then on the Preview (did this 4 times before I finally gave up). Kicker: RCN claimed that they had to have a technician come out and install the Preview because "you need to have a trained technician come out who won't leave until everything is working properly."
