[Equipment] Looking to switch from FIOS to RCN - Technical Questions

Looking to switch soon (next 2 months) and leaning toward the 110mbps Internet/Signature TV bundle. I need a great internet speed for streaming. I'm also looking to buy my own equipment to save on monthly bills for the long term. I have a few questions about the process. 1) I read about the RCN supported cable modems on the RCN website, but I feel the list might not be completely up to date. I'd like to purchase the best modem and router available on the market to be able to maximize internet speeds provided by RCN. Which ones are the very best? Also, would you recommend purchasing the modem and router separately or as a combo? 2) I currently have the modem/router in the basement. Would like to move it to the living room area upstairs, so I can hardwire it directly to my Fire TV and HD box for maximum streaming performance. Shouldn't be too complicated, I hope. 3) I was planning to get a Tivo Premiere for the living room TV and a Tivo Mini (for $5 extra/month) for the bedroom, but they got rid of that option. The RCN website allows to add on another Tivo Premiere to a TV Premiere (+$10/month). The other option would be to get a Premiere Q whole home bundle, which includes a Mini (for $10/month more). I know, we're only talking an extra $5/month here, but just bringing it up. Any advice is highly appreciated.
