Network engineer here, so I have a pretty good grasp of networking issues.
I have 110Mbps service. It works great during off-hours, it even exceeds 110Mbps. However since about January 2015 during peak hours the speeds can drop to 5Mbps, sometimes less. This can last for 4-5 hours between say 7pm and 12am., but varies day to day. Today it was down to less than 2Mbps. When the rate gets this low ma.speedtest.rcn.net just fails the test.
My signal strength is always in a good range and never fluctuates. A technician came last month and checked out the connection, which was fine. It's actually a brand new line run directly to the building, which is also brand new.
No one at the bottom tier tech support has been able to help me. They seem to be confused by speedtest.rcn.net results that have been run off-hours. Therefore for the last month I _only_ run this test during slowness so that it's obvious there is a problem at RCN, hoping somebody notices. My last 13 test results have all been under 26Mbps. Of those 10 have been under 11Mbps!
Also I know it's just not me, neighbors and various people on the internet have complained about the exact same behavior.
Can someone help me?
