So I added TiVo service last week and my Docsis 3.0 modem was replaced with the 3-in-1 Aaris modem/router.
Right off the bet I connected my personal Asus wireless router to port 4 of the modem and everything works perfectly fine. My wired speed (with CAT6 from PC to router) is what it is suppose to be - upper 90's (my NIC is 10/100, not gigabyte).
So I decided to get rid of my router and use the modem. I connected my laptop (again - wired with CAT6) to both ports 1 and 4 in the modem and my speed is way down...not even close to what it is suppose to be (see attached: two speed tests - one with my Asus router and one directly to the modem).
1. Why is it?
2. How can it be that the modem 'limits' the speed when client is connected directly to it but not when a router is connected?!
Thanks.
