So RCN upgraded me to their 155 Mbps service a few days ago and swapped out my modem for a new Arris 3 in 1, saying my older Arris won't support that speed. Unfortunately they still had to leave my old modem as an EMTA for my phone because the new modem doesn't have a built in EMTA. They did the swap when I was at work and my wife isn't educated in networking at all.
I wanted the Wi-Fi and router turned off since I have my pretty solid wired network with a Cisco small business switch and Netgear Wi-Fi router. When I got home, my router was going nuts saying their was a double NAT issue, meaning the RCN / Arris modem was also distributing IP's and doing NAT. When I called RCN, they are insistent that the router is off and it's not serving DHCP. Any suggestions? I'm about to completely dump RCN. I didn't want a 3-in-1 modem...all I wanted was a modem and I'm not sure why they cannot do this. They're also telling me that they won't support a bring your own modem at 155 Mbps.d
